Been away for so long

Art form(s):Theater, Movies, Music.
OK so I know it's been awhile since I've posted. I've been busy with some personal stuff recently, but I'm not getting into that. The point is, I'm back! WHOOPEE!
First order of business. Check out with super spiffy new logo that The Homeless Robot from The Robot Union me for the blog. Stupéfiant, est cela non ? Yes it is.
Anyway....NEXT. A few years back my mom took my little sister, her friend, and myself to see a small production called Big Little Things. Its a very modern performance type deal and even then it was amazing! Well we went to see it again on Christmas eve. Spectacular!
Here's what they said on Frommers.com "Also keep an eye out for performances by Imago Theatre, 17 SE Eighth Ave. (tel. 503/231-9581; www.imagotheatre.com), which, though it is also a live theater company, is best known for its wildly creative productions of Frogz and Big Little Things, both of which are fanciful dance performances that appeal to both adults and children. Do Jump! Extremely Physical Theatre (tel. 503/231-1232; www.dojump.org), is another highly creative dance company worth watching for. Their performances incorporate dance, acrobatics, aerial work, and plenty of humor."
OK. Onward we push. I've seen a lot of good movies recently. Not many of them are new though. Most are old ones I've seen on Lifetime. Now don't get all "omg, she watches lifetime....eww" on me. I've recently started watching it more and realized that it's not all bad. I watched a movie about a gay teenage girl called "The Truth about Jane". And a movie called "Miracle Run" which features Zac Effron as an autistic child. Plus the movies are always inspiring.
So, music. I'm not going to go through a bunch of bands in depth. I'm just going to make a list. Because I've been listening to a TON of great bands as of late.

The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Medium:Movies
Subject:Sweeney Todd
Indeed, I am in fact reviewing Sweeney Todd. The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Sweeney was a Tony Award -winning musical with a book by Hugh Wheeler and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Now Tim Burton, famous director of such films as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, and Sleepy Hollow, brings this story to the silver screen.
Johnny Depp stars as Sweeney Todd (Benjamin Barker) a barber seeking revenge against the judge who banished him and broke apart his family and now intends to marry his daughter. He seeks the help of Mrs.Lovett, the owner of a meat pie shop (the worst in London), and they go into business together. Through a series of events Sweeney starts murdering his customers and lets Mrs.Lovett use them in her meat pies (business couldn't be better). A young sailor, Mrs.Lovett's assistant Toby, and a crazy beggar woman bring about his downfall.
It's much more complicated then that but you get the gist.
Anyone who knows this story, knows that it's gory. Well, while the movie is rated R for gory, its not to bad and defiantly not realistic. The music though is done very well. Anyone who's seen Johnny Depp in Crybaby knows that he didn't actually sing in it. But we finally get to here him belt it out. And there's nothing to cry about. He pulls the low growl that this role required very well.
In all, this was a very good, enjoyable movie. I recommend it to EVERYONE. Unless of course you don't like blood (there is quite a lot of it). Or if you don't like musicals (for it is one). Or if you don't like Johnny Depp (GASP). Or if you don't like dark films (Tim Burton is,in my opinion, a gift from heaven!). Or of course if your under 18 (cough cough) and your parents won't take you (I love having a cool mother).
Well that's all for the time being.
Until next time, I'm that one girl.

Feel the beat.

Today's topic/medium/whatever:Music
Subject/band/artist/whatever:The Hoosiers and The Sick Puppies
This spectacular mix of Indie, pop, and a touch of comedy (in some peoples opinion) is a refreshing break from all the other artists out there. No "Oops I did it again" or "Your Beautiful" nonsense here. Plain and simple: music. They get that no one wants to listen to the same old stuff.
Their hit song "Goodbye Mr.A, a comedic (in a good way) song about super hero's, contrasts nicely with their more serious sounding songs like "Worried About Ray.". It's nice to know that they are making it in the world.
Their music will be featured in the new movie "Juno", the story of a young girl who gets pregnant. In my opinion they get two thumbs up.
Next on my list of music: The Sick Puppies.
As featured in the YouTube video "All the Same (free hugs)" their song "All the Same" is anything but that. Even before watching the free hugs video, the lyrics touch our heart. Their lyrics will make you think about life and how you live it. Again, two thumbs up.
Here's the Video that features their song:
Until next time, ta ta

The first post

So basicly this is the sister blog to The Robot Union. It's not about me. It's about art in any form. Reveiwing it, introducing it, whatever. Music, theater, photography, painting, any form, really.
I'm not gonna give out my name, age, or any other personal info. If you wanna know who I am, well thats just to damn bad.
I'd also like to say that if you have a problem with something writen here, take it up without hidding behind a sn. I'm open to whatever you have to say, but I will NOT fight.
So with that being said....Here goes nothing.
